“Stumbletown” is an old nickname for the strip of 65th Street between Eighth Avenue NW and Third Avenue NW on the easternmost border between Ballard and Phinney Ridge. It was known as the spot to stumble to for after-hour bars and early morning coffee. Our new venture, Stumbletown Ballard, hopes to bring back some of that old feel with our sandwich shop and outdoor beer/wine garden. With great partnerships including neighborhood spots like Chocolat Vitale and Joli, we look forward to bringing our customers many unique experiences.
Thanks for stumbling by! We look forward to serving you soon.
17 Restaurants That Make Ballard One of Seattle’s Best Dining Neighborhoods
Ballard has everything from dive bar chili to high-end tasting menus
Opened in late 2021, Stumbletown is named after the strip of 65th Avenue Northwest where people used to “stumble” for predawn drinks or coffee. There’s a small but top-shelf beer and wine selection here, but you come to Stumbletown for the “Italian-inspired” sandwiches, hand-held symphonies of cured meat, sun-dried tomato spread, hot or sweet peppers, and arugula, all on warm bread from Sea Wolf bakery.
The chicken sandwich was delicious! Such good flavors, but the bread is really what made it for me. The service was also super friendly and prompt. Sitting out at the picnic table in the sun was also a nice perk. Thank you Stumbletown. I will definitely be back.

My husband, son and I ate at Stumbletown after a trip to the zoo (it was less than a five minute drive away). We easily found street parking, and appreciated the patio with plenty of umbrellas for shade. The wait for our food was not bad at all, and the sandwiches were excellent. I had the salami, and the quality of the meat, cheese and bread were all top notch. We stopped by their store across the street, and enjoyed tasting the cheese and drinking chocolate, and found out that they are owned by the same people. The owner is super friendly and helpful, and we will definitely be back to get more sandwiches and cheese/chocolate afterwards.

A great neighborhood spot! We stopped by for veggie sandwiches and had a great experience. Really yummy food and stellar service! All seating is outside but covered and near heat lamps which made it cozy! Also allowed the pup to join. Outdoor tv also makes it a good spot for game days!

Had a really nice time at Stumbletown yesterday evening. My fiance got the Spicy Sheep Cheese / Coppa sandwich and I got the Prosciutto. Both were really nice.
Stumbletown has done a nice job making a busy intersection feel comfortable and private. A nice place to enjoy a sunset on a clear day, but make sure to get there before the 8 PM close time!

This place is great. Yes it takes a little time, but that’s time to enjoy a glass of wine, beer or beverage of choose while you wait. My favorite at the moment is the caprese sandwich, but given the reviews I will try the vegetarian next time!

I ordered a sandwich, ate it. Ordered another one, forgot to bring it to work the next day, got some salmon teriyaki for lunch instead, got a tummy ache, took some pepto, found the sandwich at 10pm and ate it. Excellent sandwiches.

Such great sandwiches! Probably the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time, I’ll be back! Quality fresh bread, great prosciutto and pastrami, and delicious spreads and aioli. Definitely recommend checking them out 🙂

After I discovered stumble town, I found my go to sandwich spot. And it’s nice to always know where you get great consistency which Stumble Town Ballard gives you. If you love a good Panini from Italy then this is a great interpretation of one. Typically, I question when a shop uses ciabatta due to it can get too much bread into the sandwich. Their ciabatta is thinner which works great with the rest of the sandwich proportions. The construction of the sandwich is simple and done with ingredients that give you flavorful bites.

I have enjoyed the salami, Caprese and the others and cannot recommend any higher. Don’t let your expectation bar get too high just go and enjoy a great Panini.
That’s a damn good sandwich

Excellent sandwiches! The food is freshly made and delicious – I had the chicken pesto sandwich with a spicy dipping sauce (recommend by the staff) and it was so good. Bread was light and airy – pesto was perfect and greens were fresh. They also have a nice selection of local drinks.

Excellent spot to hang in the neighborhood for an afternoon beer and sandwich. Small selection but has local favorites. Patio can easily fit a group of 6-8 people with a solid neighborhood view.

Best sandwich I’ve had in at least 10 years. Amazing cookies too.

The Caprese Sandwich is by far the very best I have ever eaten. The mozzarella is made by a 3rd generation Italian cheese maker. I cannot wait to go back. Super nice folks

Italian sandwich? Heck Yes! And Stumbletown has so much to offer! As a new sandwich shop in Ballard area, they uses the best ingredients like local Sea Wolf Bakers’s bread!
Must order? Spicy sheep cheese/coppa sandwich for sure WITH Ghost Pepper Aioli spread! Trust me, the spread with the sandwich is gonna change your life! Go try it yourself
– Gloria C. via Yelp
Had the vegetarian sandwich which was recommended by a fellow patron at the delicious chocolate shop across the street. The sandwich was super delicious, it hit the spot, and I will be back to try out some of the items on the menu.

Yum! Big fan and can’t wait to see this place evolve as they just opened. Sea wolf bread takes this place to the next level. Great menu options. We loved the chicken with pesto and salami. Can’t wait to try the veggie options. Beer and wine selection is fun + sea wolf cookies.
Easy lunch spot in a great part of town
